Backstory
Alejandro Rose-Garcia (Shakey Graves) is an unstoppably creative force of nature. He’s an accomplished actor, artist/illustrator, and musician. He and I have been friends for many years. We met at Austin High back in the early 2000s. Back in high school Ali designed an album cover for Jackson and I’s album we were hoping to record one day. We were ambitious, the album never got made but they art that Ali made was so bad ass! I have come to realize that it was the first encounter I ever had with the concept of “graphic design”.
I was honored when he asked me to come up with a poster concept for his Red Rocks Show. It turned out to be one of the finest pieces of art and design that I have ever produced. Ali is going to donate the guitar to mymusicrx.org where it will be auctioned off to raise money for the organization. mymusicrx.org empowers sick kids and teens to shift, plan, and grow – through music. Im so happy that my work will help raise money for such a great program.
